Back pain could be the cause and reason for your hip pain. Hip pain and back pain are often confusing because it has a lot to do with the nerves traveling down your lower back, and the root of the pain can be caused someplace in your lower or mid back. Some of the common spine issues that directly correlate with the cause of hip pain include a herniated disc, sciatica, SI joint dysfunction, and/or spinal stenosis. Key ways to spot the difference between true hip pain and back pain is if the pain gets worse as you are sitting, bending or twisting. These motions usually send a numbness, tingling, or shooting pain down the leg, into and through the hip area. Hip pain differs slightly and usually feels like a deep ache in the groin area or tightness of the hips. This often gets worse when walking or putting on shoes, due to the way your hips move.
